The Community Advisory Board (CAB)

About the CAB

TWIRI’s work is underpinned by principles of community-based research. The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is made up of individuals who are trans women and/or work to advance equity, health, and social wellbeing for trans women.

Bringing together diverse voices from various backgrounds and areas of knowledge and prioritizing the lived experience of trans women living HIV, the CAB provides essential input and feedback on research and operations at TWIRI. CAB members ensure that each of TWIRI’s studies are appropriate and acceptable to trans women and other community members (living with or without HIV), providing key consultation on design, recruitment, analysis, dissemination, and more. CAB members also provide their regional expertise, to ensure that each study is tailored to diverse local contexts when possible and appropriate.

The CAB is expanding and we are recruiting new members!

If you would like to participate on the CAB, fill out the form below and a member of our team will be in touch.

Thank you!

The Trans Women and HIV Research Initiative would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Land where we reside and conduct the majority of our work: the traditional territory of the Wendat, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Anishinaabeg, including the Chippewas and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today Toronto is host to many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. Toronto is within the territory of the Dish with One Spoon Treaty which requires responsibility of those who use the land to share it peaceably and care for it.
